Stability Through Advoacy prevents and responds to housing instability by helping individuals and households overcome barriers to housing, behavioral health care, essential resources, and long-term stability through low-barrier, person-centered navigation, advocacy, practical support, and sustained follow-through.

About STAY
Housing advocacy nonprofit
STAY was created because too many people are expected to navigate homelessness, housing instability, mental health challenges, benefits systems, and housing barriers alone.

We bridge this gap through practical advocacy, relationship-based navigation, and steady support, which helps people move from crisis toward stability, one connection at a time.

Our Vision
We envision a Capital District where housing instability does not become homelessness because every person can access timely, coordinated support, essential resources, and a geniune path to lasting stability.
Housing Stability
We believe safe, stable housing is foundational to mental health, safety, and long-term well-being.
Autonomy & Person-Centered Support
We respect each individual’s right to self-determination, choice, and control over their goals and services.
Our Values
Access & Coordination
We believe individuals should have timely, coordinated access to housing, benefits, and supportive services, particularly during periods of transition or crisis.
Equity & Trauma-Informed Practice
We acknowledge the impact of trauma, economic disadvantage, and systemic inequities on housing stability and service access. We commit to trauma-informed, equitable practices that reduce barriers and promote dignity.
Who We Serve
We serve adults and families throughout the Capital Region who are experiencing mental health challenges and homelessness or housing instability. This includes people who are unsheltered, staying in shelters, or at risk of losing their housing. STAY supports individuals impacted by Serious Mental Illness (SMI), although a diagnosis is not required to receive services.
